Technology

What Is OCC?

Optical Camera Communication (OCC) is a communication technology that encodes data into the visible light emitted by LED luminaires, which is then decoded by a smartphone camera. To the naked eye the LED looks like an ordinary light — but the camera sensor reads the unique ID and position coordinates embedded in each fixture's modulated output.

JK Technology independently developed OL-IN, an indoor positioning service built on this OCC technology, achieving 3 patent registrations and 4 technology transfers. OL-IN complies with the IEEE 802.15.7 standard and is optimized for ceiling heights of 2.5 m or above.
